What we did

We set up a simple self-assessment in Optimus and ran a short series of live training
webinars for all suppliers. Sessions were split by confidence level so beginners and
experienced teams both got what they needed. We walked through the template in plain
language, showed worked examples for energy, water and waste, and answered practical
questions on units, basic emission factors, and what evidence to submit. We shared quick-
reference packs – checklists, one-page guides, and filled-in examples – and offered 1:1
progress check-ins for suppliers who wanted extra help.

Results in six weeks

    • 2× more complete submissions (from 38% to 76% of Tier-1 suppliers).

    • Faster responses: median submission time fell 43% (23 → 13 days).

    • Fewer mistakes: common unit/factor errors reduced by >50% thanks to clearer
      guidance and simple checks.

    • High engagement: 89% joined at least one live session.

How this helps with EU rules and audits

    • CSRD (EU sustainability reporting): More consistent supplier data strengthens
Scope 3 reporting and makes external assurance simpler, because activity data,
units and evidence are captured in a standard way.

    • CSDDD (EU due-diligence): Regular training, follow-up and basic verification show
active oversight of environmental impacts in the supply chain, supporting a clear
      improve-and-evidence cycle.

Why it worked

    • Plain language and real examples removed confusion.

    • Short sessions plus recordings respected time zones and workloads.

    • Simple take-away guides made it easy to “get it right first time.”

    • Friendly 1:1 check-ins built confidence and kept momentum.

What’s next

The brand is moving to an annual assessment cycle and adding short refreshers on tricky
topics (e.g., water intensity, waste segregation) to keep improving data quality against the
Scope 3 baseline ahead of upcoming CSRD cycles.
