Social
Compliance AUDITS
SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) evaluates a company’s compliance with ethical and social responsibility standards. SMETA is the most well-known social compliance audit. A SMETA 2-Pillar assesses labour standards and health and safety, and a SMETA 4-Pillar covers these, environment, and business ethics. The site must be a member of Sedex to have a SMETA. A qualified auditor assesses compliance with local laws, international standards, and industry best practices during the audit. The completed report identifies any areas of non-compliance and provides recommendations for improvement.
Verisio’s Deep Dive audit assesses a company’s operations, supply chain, and sustainability practices beyond traditional social compliance audits. Deep Dive focuses on high-risk and high-impact areas, thoroughly reviewing policies, procedures, and interviews with key personnel. Deep Dive also assesses these points before the auditor arrives at the site. Deep Dive assesses compliance with local laws, international standards, and best practices across working conditions, human rights, health and safety, environmental sustainability, and business ethics. The audit report provides a detailed assessment of the company’s operations, recommendations for improvement, and a roadmap for corrective actions. Our Deep Dive audit helps clients enhance their sustainability performance and identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
If regular social compliance audit standards differ from what you need, our client bespoke audit can check ESG standards at any site. We build audits with you to cover various ESG topics, such as labour and human rights, health and safety, management systems and adherence to your Code of Conduct. It can be as comprehensive as you need. The aim is to ensure your supply chain partners meet social compliance standards and to identify improvement areas, creating ethical and responsible supply chains.
A spot check social compliance audit is an unannounced inspection of a facility to evaluate compliance with client standards. It assesses ongoing compliance with ethical requirements and can be tailored to investigate specific concerns. The audit typically involves a short but robust walkthrough to observe working conditions, review records, and talk to employees. The results are reported back to the client for further action.
A deeper investigation audit is a more thorough assessment than a spot check audit, often conducted in response to specific concerns or allegations about a company’s standards. It comprehensively examines policies, procedures, and practices, including interviews, contract and financial reviews, and facility inspections. The audit results identify non-compliance areas from which corrective action plans can be created.
